Education System in Monaco - An Overview
The constitution of Monaco made Education compulsory to all. Teaching curriculum is similar to that of France and it is designed to provide an international perspective to students.
Education in Monaco is available from Pre Primary to University level. Attendance rate in Monaco is 90% and almost all of the adult population is literate. In the later half of 1990, about 5.3% of total government budget was allocated for Education. In 1997, Monaco had enrolled 1,919 students in its Primary Schools. In the same year, Secondary Schools enrolled 2,886 students and employed 281 teachers. The pupil-teacher ratio at the primary level was estimated at 16 to 1 in 1999.
